Invasion of the Flies

Spring marches on and the latest pest to hit the shores of Sydney Harbour is the notorious Aussie fly; this species has clearly self-bred to become a special annoyance to good honest folk going about their business. Flies buzz around your face all day so persistently that there’s a special slang term for the movement of brushing them away with your hand. It’s called the aussie salute.

A Crazy Old Week

Well it’s all over; the 2005 Australian National Radio Conference and Commercial Radio Awards were a tremendous success last week and our new technology was particularly well received. I have some pictures in my gallery and there are some more over on Commercial Radio Australia’s site. See if you can spot me in them.

With the conference over I complete my contract at Digital Radio Australia this week and have a new job lined up in Sydney which I start on 7th November. In the intervening period I’m hoping to get out of the city for a bit so I may actually have some travel to write about.

Also this week it’s Christian O’Connell’s last breakfast show on XFM.

3 months in Sydney

They say time flies when you’re having fun, and the last three months certainly is a bit of a blur. Since my last update I’ve added new photographs of the Eastern Beaches and the Hostel Olympics. There are also some new features on the gallery including a link to send eCards, a UK-based photo/poster printing service and a ’send to a mobile phone’ service.

The next two weeks are going to be busy with preparations for the Australian Radio Festivval and Commercial Radio Awards where I’m involved with demonstrating some new digital radio services to the Australian radio industry.

Has anyone woken up that bloke from Green Day yet? I’m sick to death of hearing his song everywhere and I’m hoping that if he finally wakes up I won’t have to endure it anymore.
